Hush Puppies is a quinquagenarian. Yes, we’re celebrating our 50th birthday and, momentarily, pausing for thought. Could we be a little out of touch, a smidge old hat? Horror of horrors!

We at Hush Puppies have always prided ourselves on being with it! Down with the kids etcetera. ‘Something needs be done,’ we said. ‘Perhaps we need a reality check!’

Cue Hush Puppies at Western-super-Mare - a glorious day, buckets of pear cider, and more top music acts than you can shake a stick at. That’s right, Hush Puppies were backstage at T4 on the Beach!

We joined a number of other brands in the ‘Talent Retreat’ (they don’t let any old riff raff in) and met with a great reception from the celebrities.

Basshunter, a charming lad, loved our boat shoes ‘Pioneer’, and we had a great chat with Carl Brat from Dirty Pretty Things who liked ‘Piccadilly.’ Nikki Graham from Big Brother, such a genuine character, took Ariana in red from our GDS range and Kelly Rowland the American singer who was previously with girl group Destiny’s Child, adored Adeline, also from our GDS range. And what a fillip to receive a request for Divinity, the Victorian ankle boot, from Alexa Chung. Hush Puppies were starry-eyed over an order from such a stylish celebrity!

After a day-long adrenaline rush Hush Puppies were tired but not at all down-hearted.

We realised that you don’t get to the grand old age of fifty without becoming good at what you do and picking up some loyal friends along the way.

It just goes to show, the old ones can still be the best!

Hush Puppies have the pedigree but still move with the times.
